Building Sustainable, Long-Term Inter-Agency Partnerships

Tuesday, November 5, 2013 : 2:45 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Connie Mitchell, MD, MPH, California Department of Public Health, Office of Health Equity, Sacramento, CA
Health equity can only be achieved if we address education, poverty, access to jobs, social policy, and other social determinants of health; these social determinants of health are critical intervention points in the pathway to health equity. California has created the Office of Health Equity within the California Department of Public Health, which houses California's Health in All Policies Task Force effort. Because intersectoral collaboration is vital to addressing the social determinants of health and the policies that shape them, Health in All Policies is a key strategy for the Office of Health Equity. The presenter will describe the operational structure for the California Health in All Policies Task Force as well as other administrative and funding options.
