Health in All Policies as a Tool to Promote the Social Determinants of Health and Health Equity

Health in All Policies is a collaborative approach to improving the health of all people by incorporating health considerations into decision-making across sectors and policy areas. But where do we start? The presenter will explore the role of collaboration in making progress toward that vision, and will introduce the 5 key elements of a Health in All Policies approach. In addition, it is critical that these collaboratives acknowledge the goals of each partner, and pursue benefits for multiple partners. The presenter will describe how mutuality, reciprocity, and trust can be cultivated between government agencies, and share examples from California's Health in All Policies Task Force on how relationships have been fostered and co-benefits have been identified to gain buy-in and support.
