Back to the future: Merging One Health with Public Health

Although the concept of One Health is not new, the concept has achieved a new level of acceptance in understanding and addressing EID and other concepts of public health. This presentation will define One Health, briefly discuss its principles and historic relevance and suggest new possibilities for incorporating this concept in addressing the contemporary challenges to Public Health.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I am the Executive Dean of Ohio State University’s seven health science colleges. I have been the Director of CDC’s National Center for Zoonotic, Vectorborne and Enteric Diseases and serve as Co-Chair of the Institute of Medicine’s Forum for Microbial Threats. I lecture nationally and internationally on the topic of One Health and emerging infectious diseases.
