Child sexual trafficking in the USA and Georgia

The presentation will further analyze the commercial sexual exploitation of children in the United States, and within the state of Georgia. We will explore the pathways of entry into commercial sexual exploitation, describe the variety of conditions experienced by victims during the period of trafficking, and discuss the physical, emotional and social adversity resulting from those conditions. We will address the interaction of victims with the healthcare system, and in so doing, highlight current challenges in the field surrounding victim identification and appropriate intervention. We will discuss the need for peer-reviewed research on sex trafficking, and the ways in which such research can inform efforts in prevention.
