Pacific Unitarian Church Outreach Food Gardening

There has been a growing interest in developing urban and suburban-based food gardens that provide vegetables and fruits to mitigate food insecurities among under-served populations. Local governments and community groups throughout the U.S. are providing assistance in creating gardens, but determining how to maintain interest in working the gardens by community partners presents a problem for many community-based food gardening projects. Pacific Unitarian Church of Rancho Palos Verdes is in its second year in providing a robust organic crop to deliver to local shelters. The documentary demonstrates the effort and commitment it would take for faith-based organizations to lead in creating sustainable food gardens and delivering healthy foods to local community-based organizations that serve low-income families.
