Future of measurement and statistics

In virtually all aspects of public health and medicine, there have been major technological innovations that have led to expansions in the volume and types of measurements that are available to analysts. Examples include genomics, brain imaging, remote sensing, social media wearable computing. In this talk, we will give examples of this phenomenon and then attempt to contextualize the role of statistics and more generally quantitative analysis. The impacts of this change on education, training and collaboration will also be discussed.
