Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I have worked in the newborn screening arena for 35 years as a member of state advisory committees in Colorado and Texas, director of a clinic and clinical laboratory that provided follow-up and diagnositic services to screening programs, and as a clinical and laboratory researcher. We showed, for example, that babies screened for PKU in the first 24 hours could be missed (basis of AAP recommendation) and DNA could be analyzed from dried blood spots.
