A review of the preparation process undertaken by a smaller-sized MPH program (CEPH-accredited since 1992) will be presented. The interface of the MPH program with the CEPH-accredited BS-CHE program (accredited since 2007) will be included. Emphasis will be placed on (1) advance planning arrangements, (2) the value of competency-based alignments, (3) essential data sources, (4) benefits from having a public health community advisory committee and involvement with a Public Health Education and Training Center, (5) the involvement of writing teams in self-study development, and (6) overall insights from two-decades of accreditation involvement. Realistic examples will be provided throughout the presentation.

Learning Areas:

Conduct evaluation related to programs, research, and other areas of practice
Systems thinking models (conceptual and theoretical models), applications related to public health

Learning Objectives:
Identify the benefits of developing and incorporating a competency-based curriculum for CEPH-accredited BS-CHE and MPH programs. Assess the benefits of using an inclusion-based model for CEPH re-accreditation preparation, implementation, and follow-up procedures.
