Successful Clarification, Administration and Documentation of Monitoring and Evaluation Processes for Public Health Programs

The field of Public Health is known for a commitment to monitoring and evaluating programs to 1) insure needs to be addressed are well understood, 2) understand the degree to which design and implementation are aligned and 3) to assess actual versus anticipated outcomes. CEPH appropriately emphasizes these same elements as one of the criteria for accreditation. Approaches for clarifying, administering and documenting program efforts aligned with mission, goals and objectives as well as using results for ongoing guidance, planning and decision-making will be presented.

Learning Objectives:
Identify the basic tenets of formative, process and outcome evaluation related to ongoing monitoring of public health programs. Assess the benefits of using well-designed evaluation and monitoring for information-based program guidance, future planning and informed decision-making. Discuss successful strategies for documenting program evaluation and monitoring as a component of successful CEPH accreditation.
