Mhealth revolution: Insights on ground-breaking mobile health research projects
This video captures a dozen UCSF principal investigators as they discuss mHealth projects ranging from treatment for urinary incontinence, support for pediatric chemotherapy patients, task management for caregivers and diagnostic tools for trachoma used by lay health workers in Africa.
All of these applications were or are in the process of being created by the UCSF mHealth Group. Formed in 2010, the team has delivered multiple evidence-based mobile applications on iOS, Android, and J2ME for clinical trials, large-scale studies, data-collection, disease surveillance and patient care. Features in these applications include importing, collecting, and organizing multiple data streams, responding to and fulfilling evolving instructions in real-time, integrating information from on-board sensor (a mobile phone's camera, audio, accelerometer, GPS) or bluetooth-enabled external sensors, such as wearables, and import and export data to an EHR.
This video was produced to share UCSF mHealth projects with other researchers, clinicians, the mHealth and digital health sectors and interested consumers and may be used in promotional efforts by the university.
