Based on research and intensive interviews with teenagers from diverse backgrounds in an area of low population index in Scotland, Wasteland explores the choices and consequences that occur from both direct and third party alcohol consumption. This innovative and creative approach allows the young people to talk about their lives through the buffer of character development in order to express their own lives.

The film focuses on the hard truths of one girls story of losing her friend to a drink/drugs overdose at 16 and the pressures and consequences that occur from this. In addition to this another girl talks of her journey in the care system and the constant disappointment of not being able to return to her birth mother due to her abuse of drugs. A truthful and real experience of life in communities in the UK.
