Introduction: The majority of previous HIV/STI research and prevention efforts have collapsed men who have sex exclusively with men (MSM) together with men who have sex with both men and women (MSMW) without focusing on the unique issues of these men, most notably their sexual behaviors with female partners. Previous studies have noted relatively high rates of behavioral bisexuality among men who have sex with men in India.

Describe the diverse and distinct typologies of male bisexual behavior, and related HIV/STI risk, in Mumbai, India; Discuss the findings of preliminary focus group discussions of behaviorally bisexual men in Mumbai, India, and their utility in informing the development of a quantitative assessment of HIV/STI risk; Analyze the patterns of behaviorally bisexual men's sexual and risk behaviors with both male and female partners, as well as their meaning in the unique context of India.
