The presentation will address the public health policy implications of the report U.S. Health in International Perspective: Shorter Lives and Poorer Health. Potential strategies for closing the health disadvantage gap between the US and other high-income countries will be discussed.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I have a long history of work in the field of public health, medicine, US federal public health policy, and global health. While working in President Clinton’s administration, I was able to take part in the administration’s effort to implement national healthcare. I have served as senior adviser to the Gates and Rockefeller foundations on international health workforce and health systems policy development. In my academic role, I've helped train healthcare management and policy professionals.
