Men's health: 40 years of condom education in the USA

This paper will deal with health education and awareness campaigns that have been put together by PPSI, a 501 C (3) non-profit consumer health education information. Utilizing the Lionberger/Mayer Theory of Changing Behavior in the community, national campaigns will be discussed and implications as far as educating the public, getting the community interested in the condom campaigns, educating and making the community aware of the STD, AIDs, HCV, teenage pregnancy issues will be demonstrated and discussed along with the barriers for usage of condoms. Four national and international condom campaigns originated and promoted through PPSI will be demonstrated namely National Condom Week (NCW) Feb 14- 21, National STD Educational Awareness Month (April), the Pregnant Man Poster "Would You Be More Careful if it Were You Who Got Pregnant?" campaign, and the HIV/HCV (October) campaign. Marketing techniques along with health promotional concepts will be discussed including such tools as the "Condom Cuplet Contest," the "Dik-atholon," condom art, and other marketing and promotional activities that have been utilized over the past 40 years in the 4 national campaigns nationwide.
