In many States, entertainment and hospitality industries, particularly restaurants, bars and casinos continue to expose workers to hazardous secondhand smoke. These workplaces are less likely to have smoke-free policies, have patrons more likely to smoke, and have the highest levels of worker exposure to smoke. Teens, young adults, persons of lower socio-economic status, and Hispanics are more likely to work in these environments, largely without medical insurance. Individual rights and freedom from exposure to tobacco smoke should be a cornerstone of tobacco control policy.
