Vietnamese lawsuit against the manufacturers of Agent Orange

Johnathan Moore, Atty at Law, Moore and Goodman, LLP, 740 Broadway at Astor Place', New York, NY 10003, 212-353-9587, jmoore@gis.net

There is currently a lawsuit in US Federal Court in Brooklyn, NY by certain persons living in Vietnam against US chemical companies which manufactured Agent Orange herbicide contaminated with dioxin used in Vietnam between 1962 and 1971. The persons claim they are "victims of Agent Orange" meaning they have suffered physical health damage from Agent Orange. Judge Weinstein, the trial judge, ruled against these plaintiffs and the ruling is now on appeal. The next stage will be a hearing by an appeals court. This is expected later this year. It is expected that regardless of the results of this appeal, there might be a further appeal by the losing side to the US Supreme Court. Legal, scientific and other issues will be presented.
