Various types of sexual violence that are occurring in conflict and humanitarian settings, the extent of the problem, factors that contribute and exacerbate the problem, and strategies for preventing sexual violence as well as assisting survivors and their families.

Learning Objectives:

• Identify types of sexual violence (gender-based violence) that occur regularly and predictably in most conflict/emergency settings.
• Find resources that provide more information and more detail about the minimum actions needed to prevent and respond to sexual violence in emergency settings.
• List specific actions that can be taken in these settings to prevent sexual violence.
