Sofia Gruskin, JD, MIA, International Health and Human Rights Program. François-Xavier Bagnoud Center for Health and Human Rights, Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard University, 651 Huntington Ave., 7th floor, Boston, MD 02115, 617-432-4315, sgruskin@hsph.harvard.edu

Public health researchers and practitioners increasingly pay attention to rights and ethics, as distinct and linked approaches, in ensuring effectiveness of interventions, programs, and policies. The AJPH highlights research and practice findings on these approaches. This joint session of the Journal's editorial board and editors will feature experienced editors and authors with diverse skills and advice to offer for publishing in a variety of formats for AJPH and other journals as well. Emphasis will be placed on: a) clarifying the complementarities and distinctions between/within rights and ethics as they apply to public health; b) how practitioners can use rights and ethics frameworks within their work; and c) how ethics and rights can best be integrated into writing and dissemination of intervention and research findings. Publishing papers which are accurate in their use of ethics and rights is of critical importance, both when work is entirely focused on explicating these concepts and when noting the application of these concepts and methods to larger study questions.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, participants will be able to
