One out of five health care managers will be involved in an employment-related action at some point in their career. Yet despite this statistic, many health care managers remain naïve to important employment laws and management techniques to minimize their exposure to employment-related litigation. Many health care professionals assume supervisory and management roles without formal training in this important area.
This presentation will focus on the major topics in employment law and strategies to minimize exposure to litigation. Important topics such as interviewing and hiring, failure to eliminate harassment, and improperly administering the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) will be reviewed. Review of these key issues is important to functioning as an effective health care manager.
