Ran Zhao, Insititute of Developmental Psychology, Beijng Normal University, XinjieKou wai street,No 19, Beijng, 100875, China, +861062206728, zhaoran1777@yahoo.com.cn

Objectives: To address condom use self-efficacy among female sex workers (FSWs) with steady partners in China. Goal: To explore reasons of not using condom with clients and partners, and to assess condom use Self-efficacy's association with FSWs' practice, communication, intention, skill with clients and partners. Study Design: Cross-sectional study among 309 establishment-based FSWs with steady partners in one Chinese county. Results: Consistent condom use with steady partners was prominent lower than with clients in establishments. Condom use Self-efficacy was positively associated with condom use communication, condom use frequency among FSWs with clients, but not with them among FSWs with steady partners. It was still positively associated with condom use intention and skill with clients and steady partners. However, it was not associated with appropriate use of condom. Significant differences of reasons about not using condom were also observed between across two partner types. Self-efficacy related to FSWs' education levels. Conclusions: The result may represent an important challenge to STD and HIV intervention programs aimed at achieving consistent condom use in FSWs. Health workers should focus on psychosocial factors affecting inconsistent condom use among FSWs with steady partners in China. In addition, intervention programs witch can promote FSWs' self-efficacy through condom use skill training will still be necessary.
