QUAD Council Session: Evidence Based Practice: Improving the Health of Communities
This session is designed to provide a brief historical overview, definitions and criteria for evidence based practice (EBP), and the context for application of EBP in public health nursing. Community-level models including community development and healthy cities and communities, will be presented to highlight past, present, and future directions for EBP in public health nursing. Colleagues and former students of Dr. Beverly Flynn, who was one of the first to initiate the healthy cities program in the United States and who facilitated the development of healthy cities and communities programs across the country and beyond, will pay tribute to Dr. Flynn’s legacy and her belief that “… local communities hold the future of the world.”
