Omaha System
The Omaha System was developed and refined by public health nurses and other multidisciplinary practitioners to use at the point-of-care for improving practice, documentation, and information management. In January 2005, a revised version of the Omaha System terminology was released with key changes that greatly benefit public health nursing practice. This session will provide an overview of the Omaha System and discuss how it benefits public health nursing practice.
Learning Objectives: 1. Identify how the Omaha System can be used to operationalize Healthy People 2010 objectives. 2. Evaluate the changes in the Omaha System. 3. Explain how to apply the Omaha System to identify community problems and needed interventions.
