4331.0: Tuesday, December 13, 2005: 4:30 PM-6:00 PM
Oral
Helping Youth: Life-Planning, Sexuality, Abuse
In this session, a range of emerging issues in the field of teenage pregnancy prevention will be discussed, ranging from changes in adolescent sexual behavior between 1995 to 2002 to changes in sexual decision making and condom use among Latino men at risk. Along with significant changes in the profile of clients needing family planning services, efforts are also being made to incorporate new service provisions that can contribute to the quality of care, including domestic violence screening and the provision of life planning education at the worksite. In spite of significant progress in meeting the needs of adolescents, the topic of providing contraceptive services to minors continues to be controversial as evident by efforts for mandatory reporting of minors involved in sexual activities. Each of these areas will be presented by a panel of long experienced experts in the field of reproductive health.
Learning Objectives: At the end of the session, the participant will be able to describe three emerging issues impacting the delivery of family planning services and the integration of innovative service practices that respond to the needs of adolescents.
