Beyond the Classroom: Training the Next Generation of Public Health Professionals to Eliminate Health Disparities
The American Public Health Association Student Assembly’s (APHA-SA) first-ever national student meeting, “Beyond the Classroom: Training the Next Generation of Public Health Professionals to Eliminate Health Disparities”, is a one day meeting created for students by students. The meeting will be open to a limited number of students at no charge and will feature both professional and student speakers. The purpose of the meeting is to provide information, resources, and examples of successful student advocacy and community initiatives in order to encourage public health students to be advocates for public health to eliminate health disparities. This one-day conference will include a prominent key-note speaker, a panel of professionals and students presenting their experiences in community outreach and advocacy programs, and advocacy training to help equip attendees with the tools needed to be advocates for public health.
