| The theme of this year's Annual Meeting, "Evidence Based Policy and Practice" begs the questions: "Whose questions? What evidence? Which practice?," as asked by one of the presenters in this session. Is the evidence base sophisticated enough to consider the complexities and variations of the lives of individuals and the intersectional nature of how individuals function in social and cultural contexts? This session will address these issues from a feminist perspective. Panelists will examine and discuss the influence of politics on priority setting for women's health research and practice, the traditional biomedical paradigm as it relates to disparities, and emerging scientific findings. This session promises to be dynamic and thought-provoking as the presenters candidly tackle the notion of evidence-based policy and practice. | |||
| Learning Objectives: By the end of the session, the participant will be able to (1) discuss evidence-based policy and practice from a feminist perspective; (2) identify the scientific and social value of considering women's health from different perspectives; and (3) recognize the influence of the concept of evidence on health systems, health organizations, and ultimately, the health of the people. | |||
