Programs, Projects and Paradigms for Health Promotion
Health promotion interventions require careful planning to be successful. Presenters in this roundtable session will describe theoretical frameworks that can provide the basis for successful interventions. Speakers will also discuss multiple programs that include community participation in various stages, including planning and development. Projects to build capacity in the public health and health promotion workforce, and their implications for practice, will also be presented.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  1. Identify the primary components of the Transtheoretical Model and the Diffusion of Innovations Theory;
  2. Describe steps for involving communities in planning and implementing health promotion programs; and
  3. Discuss characteristics of successful community-based health promotion programs.
