| This session offers examples of partnerships between organizations interested in improving the environmental health of populations. Such partnerships include government and communities engaged in social marketing; universities, community environmental justice and environmental protection non-profit organizations working together to decrease environmental health disparities; federal and city governments working together to identify and address indoor air quality problems in schools; and municipal inspectors, housing specialists and community groups collaborating to document the public health impact of poor housing conditions and subsequently improve them. Specifically, within this session, speakers will demonstrate partnerships in one of the aforementioned areas using case studies concerning policy and/or direct interventions. | |||
| Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1) Describe the importance of partnerships of environmental health programs with communities; 2) List four examples of successful partnerships; and 3) List two constraints/challenges to successful partnerships and two corresponding ways to overcome these constraints. | |||
