Statement of Purpose and Institute Overview:
The purpose of this institute is to introduce the discipline of public health informatics to public health professionals and practitioners. As the practice of public health becomes more interdependent due to the need to share data and information, public health professionals who have knowledge in this new discipline will be able to incorporate informatics principles to improve their practice. Many issues and challenges remain in the application of informatics. This institute will provide insights to the key issues and strategies public health can use to integrate informatics principles in their agencies.
