Oral Health Workforce Issues
The ability of the current workforce to respond to the dental needs of the US population is compromised by a number of factors such as declining number of graduates from dental schools, lack of diversity in the dental profession, shortage of dental providers in rural areas, and others. These factors may affect the ability of the delivery system to respond to the needs of vulnerable populations and call for the development of innovative approaches.
Learning Objectives: 1. Understand the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to improve access for underserved populations. 2. Describe the data needs for developing a population based workforce planning model 3. Learn about new approaches to deal with the dental workforce shortage issue.
