| Participatory Research is a collaborative process of research involving researchers and, most often, community representatives. During the process of research and its outcomes, it engages participating members, utilizes local knowledge to understand health problems and contribute to the design of health interventions, and invests community members in the processes and products of research. While there is a growing body of general evidence that shows the effectiveness of community-based participatory research, the effectiveness of participatory research, strategies, implementation, and assessment of faith-based initiatives (FBIs) is lacking...until now. More collaborative health inerventions from FBIs are proving to be effective when assessed using process, impact, and outcome evaluation methods. Highlighting evidence-based participatory reserch interventions that apply the appropriate research methods adds to the realiability of this growing body of evidence supporting participatory research examining FBIs. | |||
| Learning Objectives: 1. Identify evidence based research tools to evaluate health promotion outcomes of faith-based initiatives. 2. Recognize the effectiveness of collaborating with faith-based organizations (FBOs) for health promotion initiatives. 3.
