Survey Designs, Telephone Surveys and Results: Poster Session
In this session the learner will hear about different study survey designs and the impact design decisions have on study results. In particular the learner will hear about the design effect of the rapid surveys conducted in Los Angeles County, they will hear about a quick epidemiological assessment following a natural disaster using a random telephone survey, and the effect of survey administration mode on responses to physical activity survey of African American women.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Recognize the importance of case management of TB for control and prevention of TB and progress towards the goal of the elimination of TB (1 case per million by 2010) 2. Learn methods to enhance participation in the survey and reduce cost of the survey 3. Describe the National Registry of Women Veterans (NRWV). 4. Understand the issues and caveats for regulatory use of human pesticide biomonitoring data from complex national surveys completed across two decades. 5. Describe subject reaction to receiving positive HIV results and STARHS results. 6. Describe the logistical challenges to developing post-disaster survey questions. 7. Describe the response rate implications of fielding a screening-intensive survey 8. Describe how social desirability may differ based on interview method 9. Discuss public health strategies that target underutilization of the ER, tailored for different ethnic groups. 10. Discuss the impact of the type of consent process on school-based surveys of nutrition, physical activity, and body size.
