Outbreak Investigations
In this session the learner will hear about multiple disease outbreaks and the subsequent investigations that have occurred in a variety of community settings.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Assess the population for risk factors for ca-MRSA disease. 2. Discuss the concept of pertussis vaccine waning immunity and how a booster vaccine for adolescents might affect pertussis incidence in this age group. 3. Indicate what education would be useful for health care practitioners to improve testing practices for food borne diseases 4. To recognize the importance of collecting accurate epidemiological data from cases, controls and food-handlers. 5. Implement novel infection control strategies during an outbreak in an Acute Care Hospital or a Long Term Care Facility.
