Infectious Disease Surveillance
In this session, the learner will hear about methods for infectious disease surveillance. Examples will be food-borne diseases, West Nile virus and other arboviruses, and identifying potential disease clusters.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) will be able to: 1. Describe the function of public health disease reporting systems 2. Identify deficiencies in knowledge and reporting of notifiable food-borne diseases in western North Carolina 3. Describe the racial/ethnic differences in influenza vaccination rates for the current season 4. To describe the components and methods of surveillance for West Nile Virus or any other arboviruses 5. Describe the components of a comprehensive data system that can be used to identify potential disease/illness clusters
