Avoidable Differences in Health Outcomes in African and African American Children
African-Americans of all ages suffer from a variety of health conditions that diminish the quality and longevity of life. Adverse outcomes due to infant mortality, youth violence, diabetes and chronic liver diseases are among the conditions that will be discussed in this session.
Learning Objectives: 1) Discuss the relationship between SES and health care utilization; 2) Identify provider role and responsibilities in managing chronic diseases in the African-American population; 3) discuss impact of ethnicity on health outcomes.
