Health Administration Section - Student Award Presentations
Purpose of session: Public health emergency planning, capacity building, and cultural competency are important public health constructs. Public health planners and administrators must understand the implications of these themes to enable the delivery of services and address health disparities. Emerging of environmental scanning to identify unmet needs is also being used to enhance service delivery. Relevance of session: The practice of public health involves understanding of constructs which are needed to be effective and efficient. Importance of session: This is the first year that the Health Administration session will recognize students presentation at the convention. Health Administration leaders strive to mentor our students and prepare them to for the challenging public health practice.
Learning Objectives: 1. Recognize disparities in public health emergency planning efforts and the implications on the public health system 2. Understand the relevance of cultural competency in public health 3. Knowledgeable of local capacity building and its relevance during public health crisis 4. Describe environmental scan and multidisciplinary systems
