Improving Health in the Worksite
Worksites provide tempting venues for health promotion activities, and the speakers in this session will describe various health promotion programs that have been implemented in worksites. In addition, speakers will describe the impact of obesity on work productivity and discuss healthy eating initiatives focused on workplaces. The presentations will include discussions of the health education implications of worksite health promotion activities.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  1. Discuss the impact of obesity on productivity in the workforce;
  2. Explain strategies to promote healthy eating through worksite-based interventions; and
  3. Describe potential benefits to employees and employers of recognition for worksite health promotion programs.
