Contemporary Social Problems in the Health Educator's World
Health education faces a number of contemporary social challenges. This session will describe a few of these problems, specifically focusing on organ donation, homelessness and mental health, and incarcerated females. Throughout the session, panelists will discuss data collection as well as interventions and will explain the implications for health education and health promotion of these varied social issues.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  1. Identify factors that influence whether or not people become organ donors;
  2. Describe interventions to increase participation in organ donation; and
  3. Discuss challenges to working with homeless and incarcerated people.
