| Participants wll gain indepth theoretical and research knowledge in the area of partner violence, sexual abuse and resiliency in relation to adolescent development. Other empowerment based application methods will be explored. | |||
| Learning Objectives: Participants attending this session will be able to : describe the relationship between the different types of intimate partner violence and depression among Mexican American adolescent females. Apply the study’s findings of the relationship between intimate partner violence and depression to their practice. Recognize a unique model of youth empowerment and education; describe the impact of the model of community mobilization on reproductive health knowledge, attitudes, and intentions and analyze the role of youth empowerment in receptivity to learning about sensitive topics. Identify the indicators of resilience in sexually abused adolescent girls in foster care and their implications for practice and research. Articulate potential protective factors that differentiate sexually abused girls with resilient trajectories from those who are currently symptomatic. | |||
