The American Dental Association (ADA) has supported fluoridation since 1950 and has worked actively to support fluoridation in our country through its state and local constituent dental societies and member dentists. The ADA has assisted local and state health officials and agencies. The ADA has served as a source of information on fluoridation as well as a clearinghouse on the national level working with state and federal agencies as well as assisting its dentists members who become involved in fluoridation campaigns.

Learning Objectives:

• Learn about the information and resources on fluoridation available from the ADA.
• Describe the efforts of organized dentistry to increase the number of communities in the United States benefiting from fluoridation.
• Describe strategies to promote improved coordination and support on the state and national levels for advocating community water fluoridation.
