This analysis was designed to assess the transfer of new technologies in substance abuse treatment across five states represented by the Prairielands Addiction Technology Transfer (PATTC). The research was conceptualized from a program change model for transferring research to practice. Data was qualitatively collected using systemic change report forms from 2002 to 2004, across the states, including Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota to indicate the acceptance, incorporation and maintenance of new technologies, assessing the types and areas of change in service delivery, education and certification, collaboration, legislation, science based treatments and facilitators to change. Findings revealed (1) Increased awareness among addiction professionals regarding how different problem areas impact one another and how to develop strategies for identification and treatment of those problems (2) Increased awareness of special needs of the Native American population in treatment and, (5) Increased delivery of substance abuse coursework on Native American reservations.
