Ray Bullick, Health Services Department, Tulare County Health and Human Services, 5957 S. Mooney Blvd, Visalia, CA 93277, 559-624-1072, RBullick@tularehhsa.org

The Central California Public Health Partnership (CCPHP) was formed to provide a unique regional approach dedicated to addressing public health issues endemic to the Central San Joaquin Valley. The goal of the CCPHP is to improve community health and population health status by strengthening regional collaboration, planning, workforce development and training.

The CCPHP is a collaborative entity comprised of six county public health directors and the dean of the College of Health and Human Services at California State University Fresno. The Partnership includes the Fresno County Community Health Department, the Kern County Department of Public Health, the Kings County Department of Public Health, the Madera County Public Health Department, the Merced County Public Health Department, the Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency and the College of Health and Human Services at California State University Fresno.

The College of Health and Human Services, California State University Fresno provided initial planning and staff resources in 2000-2002 to assist in launching the CCPHP. The CCPHP then developed an organizational framework and bylaws and began planning to enhance regional and local community health planning and participation to meet the needs of the rapidly growing and culturally diverse Central San Joaquin Valley population. The Partnership has since collaborated to initiate a number of successful regional activities, including implementing a public health training academy. This session will examine the process by which the seven organizations were able to collaborate to initiate these various activities.
