Infrastructure expansion in environmental health : A formula for success

Leon F. Vinci, DHA, CEO/President, Health Promotion Consultants, 1100 Evergreen Drive, Lincoln, NE 68510, (860) 982-6298, Lfv6@aol.com

Recently, environmental health coverage across the state grew dramatically from 27% of the Nebraska to nearly 100%. This unique E. Health infrastructure expansion was caused by several important factors--including a carefully planned advocacy process.

A well-designed survey was conducted this past year of Key Informants from the Nebraska Health community & resulted in important learnings/research data. Information collected in the survey encompasses issues of policy, legislation, funding, and science-based testimony provided throughout the process. This new and rich factual material will be presented in this session.

Information about the survey instrument will be included along with the significant findings gleaned from these Key Informants. Key Informants included environmental health leaders from statewide associations, state government, local health departments, legislature, academia, as well as advocacy/lobbyist groups.

Findings concerning this unique process and results from the research data will be presented in this session.
