This session will explore the experience of tuberculosis programs around the world to determine best practices in detection and treatment of latent tuberculosis, DOTS protocol for youth, certification of DOTS programs and the effect of TB on the working population. | |||
Learning Objectives: On completion of the session, participants will be able to: 1) discuss the WHO DOTS program for Tuberculosis in developing countries; 2) describe shortcomings of the program in the under-18 year age group; 3) understand the issues, processes and value of a certification system for DOTS centers; 4) recognize the benefits of prenatal vs. Postpartum treatment of latent tuberculosis infection in a high-risk population | |||
