Influenza: The Usual, Unusual, and the Pandemic
The session will describe aspects of influenza disease and control important to the public health community.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Describe unusual features of the 2003-04 influenza seasons for disease surveillance, vaccine supply, and vaccine effectiveness. 2. Describe major elements of the avian influenza outbreaks in Asia, including disease epidemiology and control measures. 3. Describe the status of influenza pandemic preparedness planning at the national and state levels.
