Research and the Public Interest
This session could explore questions such as, What is the role of public health research in a democracy?, What should be the role of public vs. private sectors? How should public health science be integrated into policy making? Are those who engage in public health research for sale, and if so what is the role of whistleblowing? What are the implications of using public dollars to benefit private interests? How do public health researchers balance moral obligations to society with the benefits of research?
