Faith-Based Initiatives to Support Behavioral Change
As part of a national effort to reduce racial and ethnic disparities in health, faith-based organizations have been the focus of interventions to promote health and prevent chronic diseases. The purpose of this session is to describe several faith-based initiatives to improve health that are related to healthy eating and physical activity and obesity as well as to look at the evaluation of such interventions.
Learning Objectives: 1. Describe 2 strategies used in faith-based organizations to promote health; 2. Discuss important factors in a successful intervention in a faith-based organization.
