Obesity in children and adolescents has increased dramatically in recent years putting this population at increased risk for being overweight as adults and for chronic diseases later in life. The purpose of this session is to present current research in the area of youth obesity and public health approaches that promote energy balance through healthy eating and physical activity in this population. | |||
Learning Objectives: 1. Identify 2 programs that promote healthy eating and physical activity for children and youth; 2. Discuss factors that contribute to obesity in children and youth. | |||
