HIV Epidemiology and Prevention for Gay and Bisexual Men
Current topics in HIV prevention for diverse populations of gay and bisexual men will be addressed. Ways in which prevention can be tailored to Latino, African American, drug using, and HIV-positive gay and bisexual men will be discussed.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to: •Describe how HIV prevention can be culturally tailored to Latino gay and bisexual men. •Identify how intensive behavioral counseling can be used to reduce HIV risk behaviors among African American men who have sex with men. •Describe how HIV prevention can be culturally tailored to address the needs of African American MSM. •Understand how gay drug users negotiate the different cultural worlds associated with their sexuality and drug behaviors. •Articulate ways in which the HIV risk behaviors of gay drug users can be addressed in prevention. •Identify ways in which HIV serostatus disclosure impacts the sexual risk behaviors of HIV positive MSM in sexual encounters with HIV negative men.
