What prison environments do to mothers and their children

Prison and jail sever usual bonds between mothers and children, both through enforced separation and by the nature of prison environments. Long-term consequences result from the intrusion of incarceration into families. This session will discuss ways in which formerly incarcerated women provide important leadership in developing strategies to counter these impacts.
