Larry L. Needham, PhD, Division of Laboratory Sciences, National Center for Environmental Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, unknown, unknown, GA 99999, 555-555-5555, Ll1@cdc.gov
Dr. Larry Needham will describe how the U.S. Centers for Disease Control pioneering work on biomonitoring has deepened our understanding. about United States populations exposures to toxic substances and how this data can be used to assess and influence public health policy. His discussion will include, for example, information about how studies have helped delineate ranges of exposures for particular populations, how studies have identified those populations who may be particularly vulnerable to chemical exposure, and how such data may indicate trends in chemical exposures.. Dr.Needham will also discuss future directions of research for the CDC biomonitoring work, and will describe how CDC is supporting regional biomonitoring centers across the US whose purpose is to raise the level of knowledge about regional exposures.
